This summer is on track to be the hottest on record.

Too much exposure to heat can raise body temperature to unhealthy levels and may make you ill — it can also be deadly.

According to Scientific American magazine, in an average year, heat kills more people than any other type of extreme weather: approximately 700 heat-related deaths. Prevention of heat illnesses is a top concern. Here are some of the prevention steps our company takes to help protect our workers from this serious threat:

  • Acclimatization – Lighter workload until new and returning workers adjust to heat
  • Buddy System – “Buddies” help watch for signs of heat-related problems.
  • Water, Rest, and Shade for recuperation
  • Educating workers of sypmtoms and types of heat illnesses
  • Educating workers of factors that impact risk of heat illnesses

Tri-State/Service Roofing & Sheet Metal Group hires, insures, trains, pays, protects, leads, and supervises our own legal workers. Our comprehensive “Working. Safe.” program includes weekly meetings on important heat safety topics like these.
