This summer is on track to be the hottest on record.
According to Scientific American magazine, in an average year, heat kills more people than any other type of extreme weather: approximately 700 heat-related deaths. Prevention of heat illnesses is a top concern. Here are some of the prevention steps our company takes to help protect our workers from this serious threat:
- Acclimatization – Lighter workload until new and returning workers adjust to heat
- Buddy System – “Buddies” help watch for signs of heat-related problems.
- Water, Rest, and Shade for recuperation
- Educating workers of sypmtoms and types of heat illnesses
- Educating workers of factors that impact risk of heat illnesses
Tri-State/Service Roofing & Sheet Metal Group hires, insures, trains, pays, protects, leads, and supervises our own legal workers. Our comprehensive “Working. Safe.” program includes weekly meetings on important heat safety topics like these.
