Working. Safe.
Through our own program, “Working. Safe.,” Tri-State/Service Roofing & Sheet Metal Group works continuously to improve safety performance by evaluating and refining our processes daily with a zero injury and illness goal.
Heat Illness is top-of-mind.
Preventing heat illnesses is a priority this time of year. Frequent communication at all levels of our organization drives better understanding, improving both work and safety performance.
- Reviewing signs of heat-related illnesses and responses with workers
- Sharing real-life heat-related safety stories from the news
- Monitoring the heat index and alerting workers
- Providing water at convenient and visible locations close to work area and reminding workers to drink small amounts often
- Scheduling frequent rest breaks
- Using a “buddy system” encouraging workers to look out for each other
- Easing into work through acclimatizating new workers
