Fifth Annual National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls Begins May 7th

2018 marks the 5th year of the National Stand Down to Prevent Falls in Construction.

With falls from heights being the leading cause of injuries and fatalities in construction, the goal of this national campaign is to encourage fall prevention through safety planning, providing the right equipment, and safety training.

Some sobering fall facts:

  • There were more fatal injuries in construction than any other industry in the United States in 2015, accounting for 20% of the nation’s 4,836 work-related deaths that year.
  • Falls account for one-third of on-the-job injury deaths in the industry.
  • Each year in the U.S. more than 200 construction workers are killed and over 10,000 are seriously injured by falls.

The good news is:

All falls can be prevented through planning, training, and proper use of safety equipment.

Fall prevention is an important part of our comprehensive safety program, “Working. Safe.” Our goal: zero incidents, zero injuries. If you would like to learn more about all the ways we help to keep our workforce safe, contact the Tri-State/Service Group office nearest you.
