Anything out of metal – Yes, we can make that: manufacturing process ductwork

Our group worked with a glass manufacturing company to fabricate and install a new ductwork system for its relocated process line.

Glass manufacturing generates temperatures up to 2910 °F. This system supplies quench and cooling air flow from two large blowers through 16 ga. galvanized steel lines to the process equipment. The system includes two ductwork runs (42-in. and 30-in. diameters) of 120 linear feet each with bolted flange connections.

Our group designed the construction per SMACNA standards for the airflow being supplied by the blowers. We work with area manufacturers to custom-fabricate and install metal products that improve processes, safety, material handling, and access. What can we help you build?

Will we have a white Christmas?

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has asked the same question.

Gathering data from its National Climatic Data Center from 1991 to 2010, NOAA created a graphic that shows the historic probability of a white Christmas defined as greater than one inch of snow on the ground on Christmas morning.

For this year, the Old Farmer’s Almanac has its own prediction. According to the latest almanac most of the United States will be seeing a milder, gentler winter than average with odds that snow will fall mainly in the central region of the country.

Regardless of the frosty precipitation expected in your area, the Tri-State/Service Roofing & Sheet Metal Group sends our warmest greetings to you and yours this holiday season!

Falling Back

Daylight saving time is the period between March and November when we adjust our clocks ahead one hour. It begins on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November: November 2 at 2:00 A.M this year when we set the clocks back one hour.

As a result, we gain more daylight in our winter mornings and it becomes darker earlier each evening until the resumption of daylight saving time next March.

Hawaii and most of Arizona – with the exception of the Navajo Nation which stretches across Arizona, New Mexico and Utah – are the only two states that do not participate in daylight saving time.

In January 2025, the Sunshine Protection Act was re-introduced in both the U.S. House of Representatives and the Senate. The act would make daylight saving time permanent across the U.S. This legislation has not yet been brought to a vote.

Some health experts argue that daylight saving time disrupts the body’s natural rhythms and advocate for a return to Standard Time. According to the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine research, the shift in time has been associated with increased heart attacks, strokes, abnormal heart rhythms, sleep disruption, and mood disturbances. They recommend increasing exposure to sunlight in the morning and adjusting bedtimes gradually to acclimate to the time change.

In the meantime, enjoy an extra hour of rest!

Enhanced Section 179 expensing: a valuable tool for investments in roofing, HVAC

Under new legislation, commercial property owners have enhanced Section 179 tax benefits.

If you have been considering a roof replacement or upgrade it’s a very good time to invest in your building. With the passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” commercial property owners can now take advantage of enhanced Section 179 tax benefits that make reroofing and HVAC projects significantly more affordable and financially strategic.

– Section 179 expensing cap increased from $1 million to $2.5 million
– deduct full cost of any improvements to nonresidential buildings for purchases made beginning after December 31, 2024
– phase-out threshold raised to $4 million and indexed for inflation, turning what once was a 39-year depreciation schedule into a one-year bottom-line tax benefit

Section 179 immediate expensing is one of the most effective economic tools available to building owners, transforming maintenance into ROI.
